Youth & Children’s Minister

The Leland Church (TLC) in Leland, NC is seeking a part-time Youth and Children’s minister who can provide innovation, leadership, and oversight of TLC’s Youth and Children’s Ministry, leading youth and children to begin a relationship with Jesus, discipling them in their spiritual growth, and teaching them to serve God and others.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Lead Pastor

SCOPE: Part-Time (10-15 hours per week)

MINISTERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and lead weekly youth and children’s programs

  • Recruit, train, and support volunteers for youth and children’s ministry to foster spiritual and numerical growth

  • Connect with youth, children, and their families bu building appropriate relationships

  • Facilitate and encourage spiritual growth and discipleship of youth and children

  • Equip and encourage youth to participate in worship and church life

  • Provide leadership and oversight of Youth Ministry Team and Children’s Ministry Team

  • Collaborate with Youth Ministry Team and Children’s MInistry Team to plan special events and activities, including retreats, mission trips, seasonal events and fundraisers

  • Communicate pastoral care needs beyond basic spiritual guidance to Lead Pastor

  • Assist Lead Pastor in weekly worship

  • Other duties as assigned by Lead Pastor

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in Church Leadership Team meetings

  • Coordinate calendars and budgets with pastor, and appropriate ministry teams

  • Communicate regularly with parents and families

  • Update church website/social media with youth and children’s ministry events

  • Schedule and lead youth and children’s ministry team meetings

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A deep, personal relationship with Jesus and a commitment to The Gospel

  • Skilled in leadership, communication, program development and implementation

  • Experience working with youth and children

  • Strong teaching and organizational skills

  • Ability to equip and encourage volunteers

  • Values collaboration with the congregation

  • Preference will be given to candidates who have completed, are currently enrolled in, or committed to pursuing theological education
