About The Leland Church

The Leland Church is a growing, faithful community of believers dedicated to sharing the love of Christ with northern Brunswick County. We began with three families who experienced God’s call to start a church in Leland. Since then, we have grown into a congregation that meets each week for worship, fellowship, and service. Our heartbeat is to share the love of Christ with our community here in northern Brunswick County.

We strive to be a fellowship of people with diverse beliefs who are united through worship of our God. This is a church where we walk through life and faith together. As we grow in our faith, we learn together how to love God and love others.

What We Believe

Jesus Christ is the Son of God who offers an eternal relationship with God through His life, death and resurrection.

The local church is the body of Christ and it is God's way of doing His work.

The Bible is the Word of God.

Baptism and Holy Communion are important outward expressions of inner faith.

God is at work in our world and we are called to join Him.

TLC has a Baptist heritage and seeks to live out these beliefs in this context.

Our Mission

The Leland Church (TLC) exists simply to follow Jesus by caring for the soul of our community in northern Brunswick County. Through worship, discipleship, and loving Leland and Brunswick County, we seek to further the Kingdom of God in our community. We are a gathered community of faith and are committed to being present in our community, meeting needs, sharing the love of Christ, and becoming more like Christ.

Our History

While our history is short, our story is full of affirmation, energy, opportunities, and a divine calling. In early 2018 after a period of exploration, prayer, and affirmation, a group of three families met at a local restaurant to officially commit to starting a new church in Leland: TLC. Our mission and "why" were clear and simple: to establish a community of faith to share the love of Christ in our dynamic community.

After this catalytic meeting, TLC quickly began to gather bi-weekly in a home. As the church grew, the gatherings moved from Magnolia Greens Community Buildings to a leased space at Cross Creek Commons. What began as Sunday night gatherings have now evolved into worshiping every Sunday morning. While worshiping and gathering were (and continue to be) important to us, getting out into our community was paramount. Early on, TLC established its priority of being in the community through our involvement with North Brunswick High School, Leland community events, and other ways of serving our community. Currently, TLC is actively involved in our community and values worshiping together.

TLC is primarily operated by volunteers. We value each one in our church and rely on one another to do the work that Jesus has called us to do. In 2021, due to our growth, we added on part-time Youth and Children Ministers as well as a part-time Associate Minister.

Our story is not complete without our partnerships. We value our partnerships and are grateful for them. TLC has a covenant with First Baptist Church of Wilmington. This partnership between churches has been and continues to be invaluable as we continue to become all that God has for us. We also partner with the following groups as we serve our community:  Brunswick Baptist Association, Manna Ministries, Brunswick Family Assistance, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

As our story continues to unfold, we are grateful for the story that God has given us and look forward to the chapters to come. And so the story continues to be written . . .
